How to Preserve Your Box Collection

chocolate boxYou’ll die for anything with chocolates. You also love collecting those chocolates that come with those beautiful boxes and containers.

Now your collection has even extended by including those sugar pops and cereal boxes. However, your problem is on how you can possibly retain the quality of these packages because you’ve noticed that several of which have faded colors and others have mildew.

Most of such items when not properly handled and stored would eventually gather dirt, grime and mildew.

Here are a few tips on how you can somehow preserve the quality of your box collection:

1. There are specialty shops or even hardware stores where you can purchase mildew or preservers which come in tin can sprays. You can spray this on your collection in a regular basis especially for your new collections before you store/display them.

2. You should store/display your collections in enclosed cabinets or shelvings to prevent it from gathering dirt. If such is not feasible, then, at least, cover the storage area with plastic covering. Better yet, cover each item with clear plastic sheet for a more secured protection.

3. Check and clean each collection on a regular basis. There’s no better protection than an immediate solution to impending damage to your collection by doing personal and routine check-up or inventory.

4. One of the causes of mildew is when the area is damp and moist. Make sure that you place your collection in a dry and cool place. When cleaning the items, use a dry and soft cloth. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, too.

5. To avoid overcrowding in your storage area, choose among your collections the most unique and worthy of being placed inside a special glass enclosure which can be an ultimate conversation piece in your home.
