Our car is considered as an extension of our homes, it is just appropriate that we give it the same care and attention as we do for our house. Here are 3 things that we should do for our cars:
-
Clean-up. Cars can get cluttered, dirty and stinky especially if you have kids. Schedule regular clean-up days for your vehicle to keep it spic and span, you’ll never know when you’ll have a guest hitching a ride with you.
-
Check-up. Part of our responsibility as a car owner is to make sure that the car is running efficiently to ensure the safety of the passengers. This can be done by a simple routine check before leaving the house especially for long drives. Aside from checking engine condition by starting the motor with the hood up and listening for irregular sounds, it is also important to check the following:
-
Fluid levels (oil, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, automatic fluid transmission ATF fluid)
-
Reservoirs (clutch and windshield washer)
-
Cracks and aging of belts including proper tension
-
Leaks and cracks in the hoses and engine
-
Tire pressure and condition
-
Dash Lights, headlights and backlights
-
Tune-up. Make sure your vehicle gets a tune-up at least once a year or every 30,000 miles traveled for older models. A tune-up entails a thorough check of car parts like filters, wires, fluids, etc. for repair or replacement. This is done by a certified mechanic.
Car rides are more pleasant and safer in well groomed and well maintained cars. So always remember to clean-up, check-up and tune up.
