Schools are going to start soon, not only the kids are eager for it to start but most parent, teacher and education stakeholders are already preparing for it as well.

Progressive Province

Living in the province made me realize how rural folks love to live a simple life. Being in the province does not mean that there is no progress in terms of technology. In fact, here in our area even some local groceries utilize Symbol LS2208 and no longer the old manual cash register. However, there are some changes that go along with economic growth. Most of the time these changes brought about positive results; but there are some which give negative outcome like the cutting of trees to create subdivisions. It is great to witness a particular place become progressive in terms of technology and commerce. Palawan is on its way to achieving such progress; I just hope it would not have ill-effects on the province’s natural resources.

Internet in the Mountains

When we decided to move to the farm, I was a bit worried that I would be totally disconnected to the online world. I’m lucky there’s Globe Tattoo mobile broadband, with a simple usb device and internet card I could use internet. Although it’s not as fast as what we used to have in Singapore, it’s good enough to check and send emails.

The only problem though is that we can only use this on one pc and thus makes our wireless router useless. Anyway, we are planning on getting satellite internet which would be ten times better than what we have now plus it could also accommodate more than one pc, so we might still be able to use this.

Unemployment in the province (and everywhere)

Since we moved back here in the Philippines I have met so many people young and old looking for work. It is sad to see so many jobless people. We wish we could help everybody who asks for help but unfortunately we cannot give everyone jobs.

At the moment, we are busy building our house so all the jobs we can give require manual labor but some young people are looking for tech jobs. Unfortunately I cannot help them in that area.

I hope that one day the economy gets better in this country so that unemployment vanishes or at least decrease.

Homey House

As of this moment, I am busy looking for ideas online and on my books that I can use for adding the personal touch to our home. I think it will be done before the end of the year or almost done at least. I want it to look nice and homey before I give birth in December.

We will have a patio around the house so I am thinking of buying several outdoor patio cushions for the sitting areas. I am so excited to see the finished product!
